On August 1st, just shortly after 10:30am, the fire department was dispatched to Berkeley Avenue for a reported vehicle smoking. First arriving units found a USPS vehicle on the side of the road with a small fire inside the dash. Engine 1’s crew quickly extinguished the small blaze with a water can and found no further extension. Engine 1-2 stood fast at the hydrant. The scene was then turned over to the Westwood Police Department were they waited the arrival of a backup mail truck to ensure the safety and transfer of the mail. Good job by all!
