WFD goes Mutual Aid into West Milford for a Large Brush Fire 11/10/24

On Sunday, 11/10, a crew of members was made up and staffed engine 1 to assist in a large scale/multi-agency incident occurring on the NJ/NY state boarder. The Jennings Creek Wildfire was burning in the mountains of West Milford along Greenwood Lake. During the 2 week long operation to control and extinguish this fire, assistance was called upon by many Bergen County fire departments. Our department, along with the Emerson Fire Department and multiple other agencies, were tasked to set up in local areas and conduct fire protection as the fire closed in on residents. Members stood-by for over 8 hours but luckily the fire did not reach our location during our stand-by period.
